It has been a crazy year in the MFFL. Entering week 6, rivalry week, every team is within one game of each other. That's nuts. Bye's are upon us, this is typically when certain team start to reveal their true colors.
1. Chicken Noodle Coop (3-2) vs The Real McCoy (3-2)
Coop is recovering after TPD exploded for 190 points against them last week. There is not much one can do when that happens. Coop still put up 138 points in the losing effort, and currently sit 4th in overall points scored. Tom Brady has been incredible, seemingly breaking the curse of 2008, when Coop took him first overall, only to watch in horror as he tore his acl on the first throw of the season. Coop lost both match-ups against their rival last year. They will be looking for a big win come Sunday.
McCoy came back down to earth after scoring 200 two weeks ago. Last week they scored the fewest points in the league. It has been that kind of season for McCoy, displaying way more variance week to week than is typically customary. Once again they had great performances on the bench. They have struggled making the right gameday decisions so far this season, typically starting which ever player performed better the week previous. There is little news on Hill's injury, but if he misses time that would obviously be a big loss. They still have one of the deepest rosters in the league, so they should be able to manage, as long as they start hitting on the guys they place in the starting lineup. Helping is the fact that they still have the easiest schedule in the league, even after Loco dropped 179 on them last week.
2. Baker's Chubbin' (3-2) vs La Flama Blanca (2-3)
Baker is fortunate to have the record they do, as they have scored the 2nd fewest points in the league to date. They've scored over 130 just once all season, and have been below 125 in three of five games this year. The loss of Russell Wilson really hurts them and their TE position has been a mess all season. But, as long as Moore, Elliott, and Evans can continue to produce, they will continue to compete. They had a sneaky solid season a year ago, and are continuing the momentum this season.
LFB has lost two straight and the scoring production is way down after smashing in week 2 and 3. If anything were to happen to Henry or Harris, they would be in trouble as their RB depth remains the worst in the league. They are holding out hope that they can survive long enough for Michael Thomas to get healthy. Inserting him into the lineup is a scary thought. As has been said all year, if this veteran team stays healthy, they will have smash weeks. But injuries have started to show, George Kittle being the latest. This is going to be a grind it out type of year for LFB, but it remains the best team they have had in a good while.
3. The Perpetual Dynasty (3-2) vs Imposing Monstrosity (2-3)
TPD scored 190 points last week, securing 1st place in the East division for the first time this season. They are second in points scored, while still fighting the league's most difficult schedule. Teams are averaging 151 points a game against them this season. This week they traded for stud WR Davante Adams, a player they traded for last season too, who balled out for them all year. TPD is hoping Adam's performs the same way, while securing more wins than a year ago. In order to get Adams, TPD traded three staters to The Morgans, which is risky considering Adams injury history. But TPD is a sucker for big names as always. The lineup looks that much more formidable entering this week. TPD is always dealin.
Stros continues to struggle to put up points. They are last in the standings and last in points scored, and now Barkley is injured. This is a crucial game for them. Their depth is actually quite strong, it just hasn't amounted to securing high point totals. Their patience with their lineup may pay off, as many players have performed well, but have yet to blow up. That blow up could happen this week. Most teams blow up against TPD. Don't let their early struggles fool you, this team could put it together at any moment.
4. El Pollo Loco (3-2) vs The Glorious Morgans (2-3)
Loco is first in the standings and first in points scored. Once again they had blow up performances in a week in which they didn't need it. Such is life for this franchise. Now, they get McCaffrey back, hopefully. This team is explosive. Mahomes, McCaffrey, Jefferson, and Williams are a lethal bunch. If their #2 RBs can continue to put up solid performances, then this is the team to beat in the West this season.
The Morgans have won two straight, but they have been fortunate in doing so. They have the 2nd easiest schedule, and seemingly sensing their issues, they traded away a star in Adam's, in order to recalibrate the whole roster. They now have one of the deepest WR rooms in the league, and more RBs to select from for the #2 spot. Buying low on Williams and Brown could have just saved their season, or it could ruin it. That's the risk and excitement of trading, as TPD is in the same boat if Adams were to get hurt. They are going all in, and you have to respect that.
5. ShowMeYourTDs (2-3) vs Unstopa-Bo (2-3)
This is John.....haaa whatever. TDs at least scored 151 last week and is showing signs of fight. UB having zero moves on the season entering week 6, the year after winning a championship, is a blemish for the MFFL.
