Match-Up Build-Up Week 11

1. Imposing Monstrosity (8-2) vs The Real McCoy (7-3)

These are the top two teams in the league by record. As was the case when these two met earlier in the year, both are benefiting from easy schedules. Stros’ charmed season continued last week, as they won while only scoring 107 points. They have now been held under 110 points for three straight weeks, but hold the league’s best record. This team is cruising towards the playoffs, but they know they have to play better if they have any chance of winning once they get there. They may end up setting the league’s all time easiest record for a single season.

McCoy is also benefiting from easy opponents, but they have been scoring more points as of late. They have scored over 124 points in three straight games. Still, only three teams all season have scored more than 120 points against them all season, and one of those was a 122 point effort. Getting Chubb back was a big boost for this team. Of the top teams in the West division, they are currently performing at the highest level. They have maneuvered injuries well this season and continue to make sound pick-ups on free agency.

2. The Glorious Morgans (6-4) vs Baker’s Chubbin’ (5-5)

Morgans blew up again last week, and they needed it as TPD came to play against them. As has been the case all season, this team goes as Josh Allen goes, and he was great last week. This team could also be getting Ekeler back at some point which would be scary. They have the most points in the league, but it is safe to wonder if they are using up big point weeks before a late season push. Much of their production has come from touchdowns, the style of their lead performers Alvin Kamara and Allen. The Morgans have had a bounce back season after a disappointing one a year ago.

Baker is quietly (5-5). It has been their best season in some time in the MFFL, and their success can be traced back to one decision, trading away McCaffrey. Robinson, Boyd, and JuJu have been consistent performers for them, and without the added quality they would have fallen flat waiting for McCaffrey to return. It was a debated decision when they did it, but none can now question it. Unfortunately for them, their team isn’t scoring points as of late, being under 112 for three straight weeks. They, like Stros, have to find a way to produce more if they are to make a run at the playoffs.

3. Unstopa-Bo (6-4) vs The Coop’s Return (6-4)

Both teams are coming off hugely disappointing games a week ago. UB lived up to their unpredictable nature, scoring only 66 points. They are (6-4) but sit 7th in points scored. Like the others in the West division, their overall record is a mirage. They need to win this week to keep their playoff hopes fully alive.

Coop had another down week, scoring below 100 points for the 2nd straight week. Wilson has slowed, and Michael Thomas continues to produce a disastrous season. Losing Kittle a few weeks ago was also a catalyst for their recent struggles. They need to plug up the holes in the boat and prepare for a huge week 11 game. Wilson plays on Thursday, and Coop needs him to get back to the MVP level production. Like Bo, they are (6-4) but only sit 6th in total points. It’s been that type of season in the MFFL. Nothing can dampen the success they have had in their first MFFL season however, what a season it’s been. They have put the league on notice.

4. TPD is fighting for their playoff lives. They are 2nd in total points, averaging 143 ppg in their last four games, but only have a (2-2) record during that span. Considering the struggles of many teams ahead of them in the standings, this season has been tortuous for them. They have the league’s 3rd hardest schedule and bad circumstantial luck. An example being that only two players have rushed for 90+ yard touchdowns this season, both running backs did it while playing against TPD. This team deserves better, but this just doesn’t seem to be their year. A giant sigh of relief will be heard from all other playoff fighters if TPD were to lose this week.
