1. La Flama Blanca @ Tavon and Only
The top two teams in the East Division battle for 1st place in what is guaranteed to be a meaningful game for the MFFL season. La Flama could not achieve victory last week against a team that blew up against them. Flama has now scored under 117 points in three of four games, leading to the loss of their East division top ranking. The story remained the same for them last week with their roster performing consistent across the board, without a star performance. Week to week they have relied on full team efforts to obtain wins and that is hard to maintain throughout the course of a season. They will hope for a bigger performance in week 8 when matched up against a team coming off big performance in 3 of their last 4 games. The next three weeks are vital for them against tough competition, but fortunately their final four games are against the current bottom four.
Tavon has won three of four, scoring over 140 in all three victories. Their roster has finally started to perform and it could not have come at a better time with this match-up on the horizon. They need a victory in week 8 to keep their lead in the East. Looking at Tavon's schedule the rest of the way it is not favorable, so they need to keep up the momentum. Differing from Flama, Tavon has survived by getting massive performances out of at least one player seemingly every week. They rely on these blowups as their roster is pretty unpredictable week to week.
It is a matchup of opposing styles in week 8's top game. Will Flama's cool consistency be enough to obtain victory, or will Tavon's explosive unpredictabily grab another win. Do not miss this clash of idealogies in week 8.
2. El Pollo Loco @ Unstopa-Bo
Another chance at history is the back drop for the 2nd best match-up of the week. Loco has alternated wins and losses since week 2 of the MFFL season. Last week was a hugely important victory for their franchise over a team that historically crushes their heart. Loco has only scored over 117 twice all season, but their record at the half way point is still impressive considering the injuries they have endured. Let's put it into perspective by listing some of the notable players that have been hurt on their roster: K. Allen, D. Bryant, D. Moncrief, E. Lacy, T. Riddick, W. Snead. They are starting to get healthier and the insertion of J. Ajayi may just save their season. This team will compete down the stretch. They will be without Ajayi for their massive game against UB this week.
UB did it. They tied the record for best start in an MFFL season with a (7-0) record. They stomped TPD and now look to tie TPD's all time record for longest win streak of 8 games. There is nothing to say other than it has been a magical season for UB. Yes they have benefited from one of the easiest schedules ever to start a season, but this team continues to put up big points. The only thing UB has to worry about at this point is history repeating itself. Similar teams in the past have slowed down significantly over the 2nd half, and struggled to find the magic from early on, but UB might be the outlier. They've simply been plum awesome.
Loco hopes to flip the script and become the hot team without injuries in the 2nd half of the season, but entering week 8 UB is on the heels of history, and no team has been able to stop them. Maybe Loco will score more than 104 points, UB's average points against for the season. Wow.
3. The Perpetual Dynasty @ Advantageous Morgans
After scoring 200 points in week 6 TPD crashed hard with an 82 point effort in week 7. It was an awful performance by their roster but TPD did all they could. They correctly benched stars Beckham and McCoy as they scored a combined 10 points. Who else would have benched Beckham after he scored 41 the previous week? Unfortunately it did not matter considering TPD's putrid performance. The team has been sporadic, the schedule has been deadly, and the story-lines have remained the same. No team wants to play TPD yet every team loves scoring points against TPD. They will hope for better results in week 8. Their schedule down the stretch is littered with games against the East, and chances to obtain key victories.
Every team will be watching this game to see if the Morgans will finally score points. A big performance for them in week 8 would further support the belief that TPD is cursed in fantasy, but the Morgans are due for a big week at some point. Money is on it happening now.
4. The North Remembers @ ShowMeYourTDs
TNR won back to back games for the first time this season and have now won three of four. Their roster showed its full potential even without the services of Charles. The play of T.Y. Hilton this year has been the catalyst for consistent success. Most of their wins this season have come against the West division, so this interleague game may present some problems. Their schedule is soft in the 2nd half as four of their seven games are against the current bottom 4.
TDs is not out of this. Their roster continues to play well and they will fight the whole way. The road is steep but TDs is going down swinging, in the hopes of somehow hitting the league with a haymaker.
5. Pryor to the Snap @ The Real McCoy
Pryor has lost 5 straight. It can largely be contributed to their ridiculous schedule but they are also struggling to score points consistently. This team still has talent though, and wins are expected to come down the stretch.
McCoy has lost 2 straight, struggling to score in both. They lost last week in heart breaking fashion after their two starting WRs and their DEF combined for 2 points. Their roster has regressed from their early season form but they remain right in the thick of things. They need to win in week 8 to rebuild their confidence.
