Match-Up Build-Up Week 13

1. The Perpetual Dynasty (6-5-1) vs La Flama Blanca (7-4-1)
The only game with playoff implications headlines week 13 of the MFFL season. Barring a huge collapse from Loco or McCoy, both will join The Morgans in the 2017 playoffs. Their resumes will be discussed at length leading up to the playoffs, but this week the eyes of the MFFL will be on one game.

TPD's up and down season reached a low point a week ago has they failed to score 120 for the first time in 5 weeks. The underperformance has put this squad in serious danger of missing the playoffs. They have to win this week or their season is over. It has been a hard road for this team. They continue to be 3rd in the league in points but have struggled to gain any sort of momentum. Holding them back has been the performance of their opponents and, as always, poor circumstance.
17 different players have had their best week of the season against TPD, with many other players having their #2 best week. It basically equates to TPD going up against two players every week that have their best week of the season against them and to put it in perspective, the top team in the league has only had that happen to them 5 times this season. TPD has dealt with ridiculous poor circumstance their entire career. No other team could continually survive the way TPD does year after year. Their blow up week is coming eventually, TPD just hopes it comes when the games still matter for them.

LFB is in the lead position for the 4th playoff spot because of the miracle tie against TPD earlier this year, in which their kicker blasted three 40 yard+ field goals in the fourth quarter of Monday Night Football. They are 3rd to last in points scored this season. Right now it is hard to see how LFB has earned this position but victories in their final two games against TPD and The Morgans would quell any thoughts of that notion.

This is basically a playoff play in game, though TPD has to win while LFB does not necessarily. LFB must hope they can string together two straight good performances, something they have struggled with this year. While TPD enters the all or nothing match wondering which two players will blow up against them this week.

Here is the current lineup projections:

Match-Up Build-Up Week 12 (Rivalry Week)

Thanksgiving brings rivalry week in the MFFL

Week 11 Recap: Morgans Clinch first spot
                           McCoy wins 7th straight
                           Loco rebounds
                           Stos and Flama suffer tough beats

Week 12

1. The Glorious Morgans (10-1) vs El Pollo Loco (7-3-1)
The Morgans set the all time longest win streak record a week ago after their 9th straight win. They scored 188 in a huge match-up against TPD. They have now clinched a spot for the MFFL playoffs in 2017. There is nothing else to say, what a season.

Loco predictably bounced back in week 11 after a loss. This team has followed the same mold for nearly all of their MFFL seasons. They have blown up many weeks this season but can never string together momentum. This week they prepare for a historic team, after winning biggest blow out a week ago. These weeks have never been kind to them but if they win here, it could be the catalyst to change the old fortunes. Loco only needs 1 win to basically secure a playoff spot.

Both of these teams will more than likely be playing for more later in the season, but this week is a measuring stick game. These roster's will be broken down in detail when it matters the most.

2. The Perpetual Dynasty (6-4-1) vs Imposing Monstrosity (4-6-1)
TPD played well last week but went up against a buzzsaw. They currently have the 2nd toughest schedule in the league, but still have scored more points than their opposition. If that pace holds, they would be the first team ever to have that tough of a schedule but still score more points than their competition. TPD finds new ways to be unlucky and suffer horrible circumstances every season. TPD needs to win some games in order to make the playoffs, but as has been the case with this team each of the last three seasons, they are far better than their record indicates and no one wants to see them in a potential playoff match-up.

McCoy continues to stock pile wins. They have 7 in a row and show no signs of stopping based on their soft remaining schedule. Their success has been directly related to their ability to score touchdowns and have whole team efforts every week. While the seven straight victories are great, McCoy would probably like to see more explosion moving forward. they've won their last 3 due to opposition poor play and TD reliance.

Flama and TPD are probably in battle for the final playoff spot. LFB gets Brock this week, who has scored under 104 in four of five games. LFB has scored under 112 points in seven of their 11 games, yet they have 6 wins. Crazy. TPD needs to win this week, against a tougher opponent, in order to set the stage for what could amount to a playoff play-in game next week.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 11

The Contenders have separated from the pretenders

Week 10 Recap: TPD beats downtrodden TDs
                           Morgans Make history
                           McCoy survives again..again
                           UB takes air out of Stros ballon
                           Flama survives again..again

Week 11

1. The Perpetual Dynasty (6-3-1) vs The Glorious Morgans (9-1)
TPD has responded after a brutal unlucky tie to win 2 straight. Their uptick in play has been mirrored by poor play by their opponents. After three straight weeks of opponents putting up big numbers, the last two weeks their opponents have laid an egg. This team is somewhat flying under the radar which is uncharacteristic for TPD squads. They would break through the radar if they were to win this week. The RB woes that plagued them all year has been steadily improving the last couple weeks. It is a strong team, scoring the 3rd most points in the league, but they have yet to truly blow up this season. This may just be who they are or they could be headed for big things down the stretch.

The Morgans are now the holder of the all time best start to a season, entering week 11 at (9-1). There are no words to describe this phenomenon. There were thoughts that this season could be special dating all the way back to the draft slot selection show, when TDs inexplicably selected the 9th slot, allowing The Morgans to jump all the way to 4th. Fast forward to now and the Morgans are (9-1) while TDs is (1-9). Once again the Morgans find ways to get points out of players no one else can, as Robert Woods exploded for 38 points a week ago. Injuries, byes, and circumstance have not mattered for this team, they have been untouchable. Couple that with teams averaging 98 points against them and it is clear why this season has been so special.

This is a much bigger game for TPD as they continue to fight for a playoff spot, but it is unquestionably one of the best games of the season. On the line for the Morgans is 9 straight victories, which would beat TPD's twice achieved record of 8 straight wins. It is safe to say there is a lot going on in this match-up for all time records and rest of season sake.

Key Battle:

2. Imposing Monstrosity (4-5-1) vs Tavon and Only (3-7)
Stros is in danger of falling out of the playoff race. They have to win this week. If they can find some momentum this week it may carry them a long way. This is still a very talented team.

3. El Pollo Loc (6-3-1) vs I Love Brock N' Roll (3-7)
Loco is not leading the West for the first time all season. They played well last week but could not with stand Cam getting 40 points. The loss of Zeke is a big blow but the emergence of Kamara has counterbalanced it. No one has been able to match Loco's ability for blow up weeks this season, but their inconsistency has been a detriment. A win this week rebuilds the momentum. The playoffs are still right in front of them.

4. The Real McCoy(7-3) vs ShowMeYourTDs (1-9)
McCoy did it again..again..again. All they do is win close games. What saved them last week was scoring 9 total touchdowns, tied for most in a game this season. Outside of Newton the roster wildly underperformed, with their 3 WRs combining for 125 yards, while their RBs combined for 56 rushing yards. They've won 6 straight games but have been outscored by their opponents on the season. Their lucky streak of not playing other teams studs continues this week as Freeman will be out due to concussion.

5. La Flama Blanca (6-3-1) vs Unstopa-Bo (3-7)
LFB keeps finding ways to win games. They've scored over 112 points only twice in their last 7 games but have 6 wins on the season.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 10

Stay Frosty

Week 9 Recap: Morgans enter the history books
                         TPD survives due to opponent error
                          Loco goes bonkers
                         McCoy gets 5th straight
                          Brock wins

Week 10

1. El Pollo Loco (6-2-1) vs The Real McCoy (6-3)
Loco scored 181 points last week which is the highest this season and 8th all time. They managed to do this with Brown on bye. It was an incredible week and a much needed confidence boost for a team that struggles to maintain consistency. Over their last six weeks they have gone over 150 points three times, but also scored under 110 three times. Regardless this is a team with major firepower and most teams around the league have their inconsistencies as well. It has been a special season for Loco but their focus remains strong in the ever unpredictable MFFL.

McCoy has won 5 straight games. They continue to have guys step up for balanced team efforts week to week. They are winning games by the skin of their teeth as they've won their last three games by a combined 13 points. This is their "m.o.", they've won an astonishing 15 games in their career by 10 points or less. The match-up this week is also expected to be close. McCoy has been doubting aspects of their roster this season but 5 straight wins speaks for itself. They are on fire.

This is a huge game in the West division. Loco hates the games following a week in which they won biggest blow out. It is a match-up of two opposites. Loco switches between blow ups and let downs, while McCoy has won 6 games this season while scoring over 130 only once. This is gonna be fun.

McC- Average (++++, --, ==)
Key Battle:

2. The Glorious Morgans (8-1) vs I Love Brock N' Roll (3-6)
The Morgans are having a run at a history. A win this week would give them the best start to a season in MFFL history. They are seemingly a team of destiny. Every game they have won, expect for one, has been by more than 15 points. The match-ups and circumstances have not mattered for this team as whoever they've put in their lineup has typically succeeded and their opponents have had down weeks when needed. It has truly been a remarkable season so far for this franchise.

Brock will try to play spoiler. It is a role they have had some success with in years past.

The rest of the match-ups aren't worth writing home about. TPD plays TDs. TPD won last week but only because Tavon once again failed to set their lineup. TDs has one win this season. Stros needs a big win against a two win team without Mike Evans. Flama goes up against the previously mentioned, and shunned, Tavon squad.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 9

Things are getting serious

Week 8 Recap: Morgans are a game away from tying history
                         LFB ties TPD on ridiculous circumstance
                         Stros shows their strength
                         McCoy survives again
                         Tavon beats up on TDs

Week 9

1. El Pollo Loco (5-2-1) vs La Flama Blanca (5-2-1)
Loco is feeling down after a bad week and the devastating Zeke suspension. Who knows if it will hold, but at this point they will not have Zeke until a potential playoff match-up. They will do everything they can to survive. This week they are without Brown due to bye so they have been hit hard the last few days. They would have hoped to have more separation from the pack with the Zeke suspension looming, but they've still remained at the top of the West all season. They will need a RB to perform well in Zeke's absence, which would allow them to continue the push for the playoffs. The suspension stings but this is still a very good team.

LFB's blessed season continued last week. They were down by 13 points entering the 4th quarter of the MNF game, but found a way to tie the match-up when their kicker blasted two 40 yarders and one 50 yarder in the last quarter of action. It was so razor close that a RB had to lose 4 yards on a previous carry just to make the yardage that of a 40 yarder. They have been winning, and now tying, games this season in which most teams would have lost. This does not take away from their talent, which is plentiful, but there is no doubt they have been drinking from the fountain of youth week to week. How else can one explain Collins, Doyle, and a kicker combining for 70 points in their previous match-up.

Loco has bye week and suspension concerns, while LFB gets some of their boys back after byes. LFB has been catching teams on the right week much of the season and it could happen again here. This is a big match-up for both squads as they fight for division position. A close game should be expected. Loco's saving grace this week may be their + match-ups.

Matchup ratings:
Loco- Good (+++++, -, ==)
LFB-  Average (+, --, =====)
Key Battle:
(Brees vs Watson) Both could blow up.

2. Imposing Monstrosity (4-3-1) vs The Real McCoy (5-3)
This would have been the game of the week if not for Stros bye week concerns. This team has shown what depth can do for a roster. The beasting from Bell has put this squad on another level. They will be without him for this week as well as Gronk. This is perhaps the deepest team in the league at WR and RB, a major key for late season success in this league. They will be the underdog this week but they are hunting the rest of the season.

McCoy has won more close games over this league's history than any other team, and it happened again last week. They won by two points after a comeback on MNF. It is amazing how they continue to come out on top in these close battles, even dating back to their first ever game in the MFFL. Their squad has done a 180* since their early season slow start, and they are now a potential favorite to secure a playoff spot this season. They have won four in a row largely due to whole team efforts in four straight weeks. Bye weeks and injuries favor or hinder teams year to year, but this team has been gifted some doozys this season, not having to play Beckham WK 1, Julio WK 5, Bell WK 9, Gronk WK 9, and Elliott WK 10 and 14 due to byes and injuries this year. Wow.

Not having Bell and Gronk is a huge loss, but their depth is great for a reason and they will find replacements. This is another huge MFFL week 9 game. Stros' match-ups won't do them any favors.

Match-up rtaings:
Stros- Poor (----, ====)
McCoy- Average (+++, -, ====)
Key Battle:
(Landry vs Coleman)

3. The Perpetual Dynasty (4-3-1) vs Tavon and Only (3-5)
TPD is still feeling the pain of last week's tie. There is no possible way anyone would have predicted a tie entering the 4th quarter of the MNF game. Circumstances like this have plagued this franchise for years in the MFFL. They thought they had pushed through that after their championship a year ago but apparently not. They need to start winnings games. This is still a team now one wants to play but their stars have to start acting like stars.

Tavon won last week, but it came against a team that is now (1-7). They are without some key players this week but still have the depth to compete. They need to win this game in order to stay within the playoff picture.

A loss for TPD would be devastating while a win for Tavon would keep their season afloat.

Matchup Ratings:
TPD- Good (+++++, --, =)
Tav- Average (+++, --, ===)
Key Battle:
(Kelce vs Ertz) Big time battle

The last two match-ups feature a game where a (7-1) team plays and (1-7) team, and a game with two (2-6) teams. The Morgans are one win away from tying the best start to a season.
