Match-Up Build-Up Week 8

1. The Perpetual Dynasty (5-2) vs The Glorious Morgans (3-4)
TPD has won three straight and has taken sole possession of 1st place in the MFFL standings. Over their last three games they are averaging an eye popping 173 points per game. Last week they scored over 150 with Allen, Cook, and Sanders all on bye. Cooper Kupp has been beyond amazing, but TPD knows his pace is doomed to slow, and he fears Kupp is using up all his best weeks early in the season. Which has been a troubling trend for years in the MFFL for teams that storm out of the gates early. Still, TPD is playing at a different level than everyone right now, and they have proven to be the team to beat nearing the season's midway point. Not having Adams due to covid would be a big loss in this important match-up.
The Morgans have slowly been putting together better weeks. They have scored over 138 in three of five games. Last week they secured a crucial victory over McCoy, performing well in the process. Trading for Metcalf, Brown, and Williams seems to have paid off in the short term. They'll have Murray going on Thursday Night, in what they hope to be an explosive performance. The Morgans will be thanking their lucky stars if Adams sits, as you know he was destined to blow up against the team that traded him. TPD hopes the same isn't true for the players they gave to the Morgans. Expect a close game. TPD still has the league's toughest schedule by a wide margin.

2. Imposing Monstrosity (3-4) vs The Real McCoy (4-3)
Stros is scrapping. It was foretold they were destined for a reverse in productivity, and it seems to be happening. Led by Chase, the squad looks like it has the depth to last the long season. Their slow start to the year hasn't hurt them, as everyone, expect TPD, is within one game of each other in the standings. It's anyones game, and Stros is right in the thick of it. Don't forget they have Barkley coming back form injury soon too. This team will make a late season push.
McCoy has been alternating wins and losses since week two. They continue to perform well, currently sitting 3rd in points scored, but last week they finally had a team show up to play against them. They have yet to secure a divisional win, which is rare for them as they usually destroy West teams. That may come back to bit them, but they still hold a great spot half way through the season. This week against Stros is crucial. They need a divisional win. Luckily for them, their schedule down the stretch looks like it will continue to be easy. They still play UB and Baker twice each, the two teams at the bottom of the MFFL currently. They are still the West frontrunner.

3. La Flama Blanca (3-4) vs ShowMeYourTDs (3-4)
LFB has lost three of four, and they continue to display wide variance in productivity week to week. But they get Thielen and Harris back from bye, and Kittle will get healthy soon. Nothing is lost for this squad. They may be in 5th now, but they are 2nd in points. Two upcoming games against TPD may decide the East.
TDs won last week as they have now sandwiched one bad week in between two great ones. Their RB depth is strong once Helaire and Montgomery get back from injury. They look like a contender, though Hopkins and Cooper both have the ability to play below expectations week to week, based on the offenses they play in. Look for TDs to battle all season long. This may end up being their first playoff appearance since the League's inaugural season.

4. El Pollo Loco (4-3) vs Baker's Chubbin' (3-4)
The injury to CMC and Wilson, which impacted Lockett, has hamstrung Loco into a shell of their previously form. Add on to that Mahomes playing his worst game as a pro, and last week was doomed to be a disaster. Still, they are 3rd in the standings and 4th in points. Also helping them is the two divisional wins they have, which gives them a tie breaker edge over McCoy in the West. They need to win this week. After playing Baker, their next three opponents are the three highest scoring teams in the league. The book on Loco's season may be written in the next month.
After a hot start, Baker has lost three straight and four of five. They are last in points scored and are on the brink of collapse. The Darnold start last week was one of the poorer gameday managing decisions this season. They have depth, and Wilson could return next week, so do not count this team out yet. But they have to turn it around soon, before it is too late. They have the capability.

5. Chicken Noodle Coop (4-3) vs Unstopa-Bo (3-4)
Coop won last week but only scored 100 points. They have now scored below 111 points in three of their last four games. Once a deep team, their depth has been destroyed by injuries. If Waller, Carson, and Beckham can heal up, their chances of success will grow exponentially. They get Jeudy back this week which could be the start of something big. Even with the poor performances they have gone (2-2) over their last four. They hope to take that good fortune and not let it go to waste.
UB has scored the 2nd fewest points. They have yet to make a move all season. Somehow they are surviving at (3-4). Chances are it will not last much longer.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 7

1. The Perpetual Dynasty (4-2) vs Unstopa-Bo (3-3)
TPD's season has been ridiculous on multiple levels. They are in first place, have the most points in the league, and have scored 190 and 175 in the last two weeks. But they have scored less than what has been scored against them. Their 153 points against per game average is set to shatter the previous hardest ever schedule of 143 points against per game, set by Baker in 2018. But they have been able to survive due to their own heroic performances, as they are averaging 145 ppg on the season. Through the first six weeks, TPD has been carried by their draft capital, with the bulk of their production coming from their August selections. Poor circumstances have tried to hold them down, but they have risen above it, settling into the familiar spot of being on top, and the hunted. This week they have a crazy amount of guys on bye, so a drop in production is expected.
UB has managed to win two straight, but they did so last week while only scoring 99 points. They've scored over 125 only once this season, and entering week 7 they have yet to make one single transaction. They are also dealing with bye week issues, but if there was ever a time to play TPD it would be this week. How long they can keep this up is a serious question, but a win this week would put them over (.500), and everyone this year has played their best when matching up against TPD.

2. Chicken Noodle Coop (3-3) vs Baker's Chubbin' (3-3)
Both Coop and Baker have lost two straight. They are in dire need of a victory on Sunday.
Coop, like so many before them, fell victim to scoring below 100 points against McCoy last week. The squad has taken a nose dive after producing strong early season performances. Like multiple teams this week, they have key studs on bye, meaning they have to piece together a starting lineup from their bench. They need to get Carson and Judy back from injury, which may happen in week 9. If they can survive until then, they'll insert some fire power for the final stretch.
Baker's scored the second fewest points in the league. They have managed to keep games close, but the injury to Wilson has hurt them as expected. The good news is they still have guys playing well across their starting lineup. If they can survive until Wilson is healthy, they will likely compete for a playoff spot. They lack a true stud outside of Zeke, but the lineup is very balanced. Their depth may be more critical to their success once bye weeks and injuries happen as the season progresses.

The other three match-ups feature 3 top four teams squaring off against the bottom 3 teams. Here are some bullet points.
-Loco once again had a down week after a good game the week previous. They're still getting it done though, sitting third in points scored. They have big bye week blues this week, which opens the door for TDs to potentially get a big victory.
-TDs is dealing with bye troubles of their own. They've lost four of five, scoring below 100 points in three of those games.
-McCoy played better a week ago. They will try to be more consistent entering week 7. Once again they had a team score below 100 against them. Outside of Loco scoring 179 against them in week 5, the next highest point total against them this season is 112. Wow.
-LFB blew up last week. Derrick Henry is a beast. This has been the theme for them all year. They will have smash weeks, but are also prone to duds more frequently than they would like. As has been said, the lineup is utterly terrifying when everyone is playing at their best. They slot right behind TPD in terms of potential explosiveness.
-Stros finally played great last week, but it wasn't even to beat TPD. After a year+ of winning games with below average performances, it finally caught up them, as they scored 164 last week in a losing effort.
-The Morgan's enter week 7 at (2-4). The next three teams on their schedule are McCoy, TPD, and LFB. this ship will either turn around in a big way, or go down sinking.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 6

It has been a crazy year in the MFFL. Entering week 6, rivalry week, every team is within one game of each other. That's nuts. Bye's are upon us, this is typically when certain team start to reveal their true colors.

1. Chicken Noodle Coop (3-2) vs The Real McCoy (3-2)
Coop is recovering after TPD exploded for 190 points against them last week. There is not much one can do when that happens. Coop still put up 138 points in the losing effort, and currently sit 4th in overall points scored. Tom Brady has been incredible, seemingly breaking the curse of 2008, when Coop took him first overall, only to watch in horror as he tore his acl on the first throw of the season. Coop lost both match-ups against their rival last year. They will be looking for a big win come Sunday.
McCoy came back down to earth after scoring 200 two weeks ago. Last week they scored the fewest points in the league. It has been that kind of season for McCoy, displaying way more variance week to week than is typically customary. Once again they had great performances on the bench. They have struggled making the right gameday decisions so far this season, typically starting which ever player performed better the week previous. There is little news on Hill's injury, but if he misses time that would obviously be a big loss. They still have one of the deepest rosters in the league, so they should be able to manage, as long as they start hitting on the guys they place in the starting lineup. Helping is the fact that they still have the easiest schedule in the league, even after Loco dropped 179 on them last week.

2. Baker's Chubbin' (3-2) vs La Flama Blanca (2-3)
Baker is fortunate to have the record they do, as they have scored the 2nd fewest points in the league to date. They've scored over 130 just once all season, and have been below 125 in three of five games this year. The loss of Russell Wilson really hurts them and their TE position has been a mess all season. But, as long as Moore, Elliott, and Evans can continue to produce, they will continue to compete. They had a sneaky solid season a year ago, and are continuing the momentum this season.
LFB has lost two straight and the scoring production is way down after smashing in week 2 and 3. If anything were to happen to Henry or Harris, they would be in trouble as their RB depth remains the worst in the league. They are holding out hope that they can survive long enough for Michael Thomas to get healthy. Inserting him into the lineup is a scary thought. As has been said all year, if this veteran team stays healthy, they will have smash weeks. But injuries have started to show, George Kittle being the latest. This is going to be a grind it out type of year for LFB, but it remains the best team they have had in a good while.

3. The Perpetual Dynasty (3-2) vs Imposing Monstrosity (2-3)
TPD scored 190 points last week, securing 1st place in the East division for the first time this season. They are second in points scored, while still fighting the league's most difficult schedule. Teams are averaging 151 points a game against them this season. This week they traded for stud WR Davante Adams, a player they traded for last season too, who balled out for them all year. TPD is hoping Adam's performs the same way, while securing more wins than a year ago. In order to get Adams, TPD traded three staters to The Morgans, which is risky considering Adams injury history. But TPD is a sucker for big names as always. The lineup looks that much more formidable entering this week. TPD is always dealin.
Stros continues to struggle to put up points. They are last in the standings and last in points scored, and now Barkley is injured. This is a crucial game for them. Their depth is actually quite strong, it just hasn't amounted to securing high point totals. Their patience with their lineup may pay off, as many players have performed well, but have yet to blow up. That blow up could happen this week. Most teams blow up against TPD. Don't let their early struggles fool you, this team could put it together at any moment.

4. El Pollo Loco (3-2) vs The Glorious Morgans (2-3)
Loco is first in the standings and first in points scored. Once again they had blow up performances in a week in which they didn't need it. Such is life for this franchise. Now, they get McCaffrey back, hopefully. This team is explosive. Mahomes, McCaffrey, Jefferson, and Williams are a lethal bunch. If their #2 RBs can continue to put up solid performances, then this is the team to beat in the West this season.
The Morgans have won two straight, but they have been fortunate in doing so. They have the 2nd easiest schedule, and seemingly sensing their issues, they traded away a star in Adam's, in order to recalibrate the whole roster. They now have one of the deepest WR rooms in the league, and more RBs to select from for the #2 spot. Buying low on Williams and Brown could have just saved their season, or it could ruin it. That's the risk and excitement of trading, as TPD is in the same boat if Adams were to get hurt. They are going all in, and you have to respect that.

5. ShowMeYourTDs (2-3) vs Unstopa-Bo (2-3)
This is John.....haaa whatever. TDs at least scored 151 last week and is showing signs of fight. UB having zero moves on the season entering week 6, the year after winning a championship, is a blemish for the MFFL.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 5

It was a down week across the board for most MFFL teams a week ago, but one team, The Real McCoy, scored over 200 points. The first time that has happened in the regular season since 2016!

 1. The Perpetual Dynasty (2-2) vs Chicken Noodle Coop (3-1)
TPD is recovering after being completely dismantled by McCoy a week ago. TPD fell prey to scoring a low point total, like all who play McCoy, but nothing could have changed the result after McCoy put up 204 points. It is a humbling defeat for TPD, but the starting lineup still looks like one of the best in the league. Teams are averaging a mind blowing 155 points per game against TPD to start this season. The 616 points scored against them through the first 4 weeks is absolutely absurd. Still, as was foretold regarding McCoy last week, expect TPD to get back to playing good football soon. Though it may not matter if the league continues to devastate them, just like what happened a year ago.
Coop did it again. They won their match-up last week in a Monday night comeback, the third time they have done that this season. The match-up last week was only separated by two points, meaning for the season, Coop's games have been settled by a grand total of 15 points! That is unbelievable. If Coop's heart can take much more, look for them to be the early team to beat in the East. Even though they won last week, they, like TPD, are coming off of their worst performance of the season. Expect both teams to put on a show in week 5.

2. El Pollo Loco (2-2) vs The Real McCoy (3-1)
Like so many around the league, Loco is coming off of their worst performance of the season. Their RBs are in complete shambles after the McCaffrey injury. They may get a boost though if Damien Williams takes over as the lead back in Chicago for a time. Look for Loco to be active in trying to add RB depth to the roster, but most teams are struggling in that area, so that may make things difficult. They are surviving until CMC gets healthy. A win this week would be huge.
McCoy scored the 2nd most points ever on Sunday, 204. It was a remarkable performance. Scoring over 200 means everyone did their part, and then some, so their confidence in the roster has obviously gone up. Once again their opponent laid an egg against them. Through four weeks they've only had 397 points scored against them. How does it happen every year? If that trend continues to hold, which it has for years, then nothing will stop McCoy from having another productive season in the MFFL, even if their own performances this season have been up and down. They seem to be a bit inconsistent this year, but it likely won't matter as things are currently going.

3. ShowMeYourTDs (1-3) vs Imposing Monstrosity (2-2)
TDs has fallen on hard times, and now Montgomery is out for a month. They have talent, but Kamara, Hopkins, and Cooper, just aren't seeing the target volume to be the players TDs hoped they were getting when drafting them. Much can change, especially if those three start getting more looks, but TDs has lost three straight, and is quickly losing faith in the roster.
Stros by some miracle is (2-2). They have the fewest points scored in the league. It is a trend carrying over from last season. Even though the record looks fine, the fact is they have to start scoring more points, or they will quickly fall behind in the race. It looks like Jones and Barkley are catching their stride, so Stros may have secured two huge wins, right before their team goes on a big run. Don't count this team out.

The next two match-ups feature favorites against two teams that are struggling. LFB has the most points in the league, and even though they lost last week, the future still looks bright. Baker continues to put together solid performances, though their point totals are still middle, to bottom of the pack. UB still has yet to make a move all season. The Morgans won their first game last week, but still find themselves in a big hole.
