Week 5 Match-Up Build-Up

 Bye weeks are upon us. Many teams have deflated point projections for this week. This is the part of the season where depth plays a major role. 

LFB vs Dingos

Both teams are top 3 in points scored and they both sit with a (2-2) record. LFB has been carried by Daniels and Henry, but the rest of the lineup has had their ups and downs. No team may be as volatile as them week to week. Getting Mixon and Kupp back will be a big boost. Losing Rice is a major downgrade. This team will likely have high highs, and low lows throughout the season. The Dingos have been much more consistent this season, and they are coming off their best week. The lineup really came together a week ago, and players started playing up to their potential. They have depth, and outside of a few minor injuries, they look built for a strong 2024 season. 

TPD vs Coop

TPD has played ok, but continues to run into tough competition. They sit 3rd in points against, which is in line with their #1 toughest schedule since the MFFLs inception. The lineup still looks solid. They continue to make trades. Things will likely even out, but as of now they have just been average. 

Cops is (3-1) after escaping with a victory last week only scoring 99 points. They are 8th in points scored, illustrating some decent schedule luck in the early going. Still, they continue to be a force to be reckoned with since joining the MFFL. Few teams have been as consistent as them. Like TPD, they have many guys on bye this week. It is the battle of the back-ups in this matchup. 

NJOY battles an up and down UB squad. NJOY is currently tops in the MFFL, holding the most points and a (3-1) record. Bye weeks may be an issue this week. UB is in the middle of the pack, but they have the talent to ascend at any point during the season. 

Stros is (3-1) and has really turned a corner since their poor week 1. QB and TE remain issues, but the rest of the lineup looks good. TDs has the league's toughest schedule, and the fewest points scored. Not a good combination. 

McCoy and Loco are trying to get out of an early season hole. Both picked up crucial wins a week ago.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 3

 

1. Njokus on You (2-0) vs The Peaking Dynasty (2-0)

The last two remaining unbeaten teams will clash on Sunday. They were also the top 2 regular season teams a year ago. 

NOY is currently 1st in the MFFL, having dominated each of the last two weeks due to the strength of their RB core. They will ride them as long as they can. Their WRs and TE continue to be spots of weakness, but it hasn't hurt them up to this point. A win over TPD this weekend would give them top dog status at the present moment. A title they held for pretty much all of last season. 

TPD survive last week, even with their starting TE getting hurt in pre-game workouts. The rest of the lineup balled out. They have injuries to their star WRs, so they will have to look to their bench. Even with the team not being at full strength they still look to be a challenge. Harrison bounced back, and they will need him to perform well again if they are to walk away with a win on Sunday.

2. The Dingos Ate Your Babies (1-1) vs Chicken Noodle Coop (1-1)

This is an early season pivotal match-up in the East division. Both franchises have been active on free agency and in trades, working to fill holes on their roster. The Dingos could have very easily been (2-0) and their lineup looks stacked at the present moment. Coop just lost Pacheco, but added depth at WR and RB, and they now have a better flex with Flowers. They need a bounce back performance from Richardson. Expect fireworks on Sunday when these two draw swords. 

3. La Flama Blanca (1-1) vs One Pathetic Loser..No Offense (1-1)

LFB and Loser went in two different directions in week 2. The trade for Mason absolutely saved Loser's season. They now don't have to worry about the loss of CMC. The rest of the team performed well too. LFB failed to score 100 points, after scoring 156 in week 1. Some of the strong performers from week 1 vanished in week 2, which could be a sign of things to come, or just a blip on the radar. Both teams will get answers after Sunday, though Loser looks to be more stable at the moment, opposite of what their name would suggest. 

-UB ran into a buzzsaw last week, but they have scored over 120 in each of their first two match-ups.

-Loco is looking to find their way, and they may make a QB change, chasing a potential league winning stack.

-Stros bounced back a week ago, but now Deebo is hurt, limiting their WR upside.

-McCoy scored just 85 points last week. Injuries and poor play have stung them in the early going. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 2

 

1. Chicken Noodle Coop (1-0) vs Njokus On You (1-0)

Coop came away with a victory in week one, but they only scored the 7th most points of the week. Sun God and Laporta both underperformed. But the rest of the lineup look good. Richardson showed why Coop targeted him in the draft, and both RBs looked explosive. Fixing their flex appears to be the only weakness at the moment. They will also be hoping JaMo doesn't eat into Amon-Ra's targets this year. It could be a devastating result for the two other receiving Lions on their roster. 

NOY picked up right where they left off. They scored the 2nd most points of the week and took the early lead in the West division. Allen, Barkley, Gibbs, and Kamara all had vintage performances. Their WRs remain an issue, but they are hopeful about the position once Hollywood returns. They traded for a TE this past week after their name sake got injured. They look like a tough team to beat for a 2nd straight season. The franchise has made a spectacular turn around over the past two seasons.

2. The Peaking Dynasty (1-0) vs Unstopa-Bo (1-0)

TPD played ok, but they largely won their match-up due to CMC being out. Hurts, Jefferson, and Brown looked like they were supposed to, but the rest of the lineup under performed. Their RB position remains fluid, but Cook and Jacobs can hold down the fort for a time. Trading for Harrison gives them an elite flex play if he lives up to his potential. It's a solid start for a team that typically improves as the season progresses. 

UB won by two points in a tough week one match-up against The Dingos. If not for their kicker getting an astounding 26 points, the match-up would have been lost. They made a trade this week, and look to have players ready to bounce back. The question long term will be whether or not they have enough firepower to match-up with some of the top teams in the league. Week 2 represents a chance to prove they can. 

3. The Dingos Ate Your Babies (0-1) vs The Real McCoy (0-1)

The Dingos have to be sick about how they lost last week. Wilson and Moody combined for 38 points on Monday night to snatch a victory away from them. It is a tough way to start the season, but the lineup performed well, and they shouldn't hang their head. They are deep at WR and RB, and this loss shouldn't hurt them much in the long run. 

McCoy is also processing a tough defeat in week one. They scored the 3rd most points of the week but ran into the top scorer. The biggest issues for this team are Burrow, Nacua, and Walker. Burrow can't be started at the present moment, Nacua is out for a month, and Walker may miss or be limited this week with an injury. They will have to hold steady or risk falling into an early season hole like last season. 

4. La Flama Blanca (1-0) vs Imposing Monstrosity (0-1)

So much for a poor draft grade. LFB exploded in week one scoring the most points. Five different players scored over 18, and every player but their defense were in double digits. All this with Jameson Williams on their bench. It was an impressive start for a franchise that took big swings in the draft. This could be a special season for LFB. 

Stros could not shake the bad draft label. They scored 97 points. A number that would have been the lowest of the week if not for TDs only starting 8 players. They had two separate players scored one point, and no player scored in the 20's. They sensed something had to be done, so they made a huge trade, sending away their 2nd round pick. The added pieces are helpful. They will want to see a return on their investment immediately, or risk feeling behind the eight ball in the early going.  

5. El Pollo Loco (0-1) vs One Pathetic Loser...No Offense (0-1)

Loco's bench played well, but the starters were average. They only scored 105, and will be looking for a stronger performance in week 2. This team has always alternated good and bad weeks. It would surprise no one if they were the top point scorer in week 2. Look for major bounce backs from Kelce and Olave. 

OPLNO thought about getting insurance for CMC, but they decided against it, which cost them. The lineup was ready to snatch a victory away on Monday night, but CMC becoming inactive changed everything. They are beaten up over what happened, but they will turn the page quickly. Talent remains, and they will hope to survive until CMC and Higgins are healthy. Do not give up on this team, even if they lost in such a manner in week one. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 1 2024

 

Week 1 is finally here! The MFFL draft was competitive, with each member being extremely prepared. As such the match-ups this week are razor close. Let's get it. 

1. The Peaking Dynasty vs ShowMeYourTDs

    TPD once again paired a good draft with active trades before their week 1 match-up. To no ones surprise they have big named WRs anchoring their roster. Hurts, Jefferson, Brown, and Andrews represent elites at their positions. If Jacobs and Cook perform the way TPD expects, then it will be tough to beat one of the best teams on paper to start the season. The Hurts and Brown stack is intimidating.

    TDs is looking to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2012, the league's first season. Having a draft like they had is a perfect way to start that effort. They stacked Murray with McBride, and their WR and RB cores are young and explosive. If CMC can stay healthy, this will be a playoff team. TDs may be especially strong in week 1, due to Higgins getting a boost if Chase does not play. 

2. The Dingos Ate Your Babies vs Unstopa-Bo

    Last year's champion may start the year without their first round pick. They await Chase signing. Needing to bolster their RB core they already traded for Conner. It will be all hands on deck in week 1 as they work towards a repeat title. 

    UB did not wait until the last round to draft a QB this season, getting Dak in the middle rounds this year. A perpetual up and down franchise, it is anyones guess as to which UB version shows up this season. Their season will likely be determined by their RBs, as they took Kyren after a career year and Achane with the hopes of a career year. 

3. Chicken Noodle Coop vs El Pollo Loco

    Coop missed the playoffs for the first time last season, after three straight appearances to start their MFFL careers. No doubt they will be gunning to get back. Injuries last year derailed their season from the jump. Richardson and Pacheco represent two risky picks with huge upside. If Richardson hits, then the rest of the team will fall into place and be formidable. 

    Loco once again abandoned the RB position during the draft, but a trade with TPD allows him to place Ford in his starting lineup for the foreseeable future. Kelce, Lamar, and Lamb are studs, but each with questions entering this season. Lamb and Lamar are coming off a career year and a MVP season. Kelce is old. If they maintain their elite play, this team will be an extremely tough out. 

4. Imposing Monstrosity vs Njokus on You

    Stros received a poor draft grade from Yahoo, but on paper the team is better than the ratings would indicate. Harrison, Robinson, and Nabers are all young and have yet to have their blow up season. Harrison and Nabers are rookies. If they all play to the level Stros hopes, then their youth and veteran combination will pay huge dividends. They hope to get back to the playoffs, a place they have inhabited frequently over the last few years. 

    Njokus on You is coming off the greatest regular season in MFFL history. They obviously do not expect to only lose one game this year, but this year they hope to get their hands around the MFFL trophy. They traded Brown in order to get Barkley and their RB duo is crazy talented because of it. They will need the WR core to come together in order to dominate like last season. 

5. The Real McCoy vs La Flama Blanca

Yahoo's favorite draft will battle yahoo's least favorite. 

    McCoy is looking to get back to the playoffs. They went three WRs to start the draft, a first for them in the MFFL. Pairing their stud WRs with two young capable RBs was likely the reason their draft was graded so well. The bench is good as well. This lineup is loaded and looking to have their best season out of the last few. 

    LFB went all in on young talent, yet to make a name for themselves. They took guys well ahead of their ADP and projections, which contributed to their poor draft grade. Success means they are a genius, while failure will likely lead to a new draft plan for next season. Once again they will be relying on aging veterans. Kupp, Henry, and Mixon are all well past their prime. LFB will try to squeeze every last drop of talent out of them. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 17 (Championship Final)

 The Dingos Ate Your Babies vs The Peaking Dynasty

The Dingos have done the unthinkable. They beat arguably the most dominate team in MFFL history. They needed something special, entering last week as the underdogs, and what they got was truly remarkable. Cooper and Hall combined for over 90 points, leading to a 164 total point effort. Once again, the top seed in the MFFL playoffs goes down, and for the Dingos, the greatest win in the franchise's history is cemented. They now enter the title with a chance at glory. They are looking for their first ever MFFL title. What a turn around this would be, after an up and down regular season, in which they went one game over .500 at (8-7). The lineup this week looks similar to last week's. Some decisions will have to be made at QB, #2 RB, and FLEX. This franchise has long been great, the only thing lacking has been the hardware. Now is their chance. They will strike with full force, leaving no energy left to spare. 

TPD is back in the championship again. After playing for four titles in a six year span from (2016-2021), they took a two year hiatus, which forced them to do some soul searching. Adding Peaking to the name has been the change they needed. A dominate regular season has led them back to where they belong, playing for it all. Crucial lineup decisions last week won them their match-up. It has been a strength of theirs all season, and one they hope continues in the final week. They are fighting for their 4th MFFL championship, already having the most in the league with 3. Like Dingos, some lineup decisions await, but not as many as last week. These two teams split in the regular season, making this the ultimate rubber match. Get your freaking popcorn ready. Championship week has arrived, and we couldn't have asked for a better match-up, after both teams scored over 160 points a week ago. It's go time. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 16 (Semi-Finals)

 #1. Njokus On You (14-1) vs #4 The Dingos Ate Your Babies (8-7)

The playoffs are finally here. For NJOY, they've known they would be dancing for a long time. They set many records this season. They are the first team to win 14 straight games. They are the first team to enter the playoffs with only one loss. They have scored the most points in the league. They are dancing in the playoffs for the first time since 2014, a 9 year gap. Not a single human alive could have predicted a season such as this.

Led by Allen, Evans, Moore, CMC, and Kamara, they have dominated the league, perhaps like no other team before them. Two seasons ago, TPD carried a super star cast of Allen, Kupp, Adams, and Taylor into the playoffs, all four of them finished in the top 6 of overall scoring. While NJOY only has two top six scorers, and three top 15 scorers, the sheer dominance of this squad cannot be denied. They are the prohibitive favorites. They have not lost a game since week 1.m Will they conclude this magical season as the most dominant ever, or will the MFFL's long standing tradition of knocking off top seeded playoff teams continue once more. 

The Dingos clawed their way into the playoffs, finishing one game above (.500). It marks another storied chapter, in a deep rooted MFFL history. This marks their 7th playoff appearance in 12 years. Their team last year had a better record, but this year's squad is a far better team. They scored almost 300 more points, than the total they put up last season. While their schedule this year remained incredibly soft, their points scored ranks in the top 3. Guys seem to be coming on late, like Kupp and Kyren. But they continue to search for answers at the QB position, as they have all season. They will likely start two TEs this week, which speaks to two things; their great depth at TE, and the lack of depth at RB and WR. This team will come to play, even as the underdog. There is no way NJOY will take them lightly. The Dingos will be hoping NJ falls flat like so many previous #1 seeds. Throw the records out. The playoffs are about to begin. 

#2 Imposing Monstrosity (10-5) vs #3 The Peaking Dynasty (9-6)

Stros is back in the playoffs once again. They are trying to defend their co-championship from a year ago, and this marks their fourth playoff appearance out of the last five seasons. Even more impressive is the fact that they drafted from the 9 slot in this years draft. They won Yahoo's best draft award, and the results validate the title. The results have been good overall, but there are a few red flags. They had the league's easiest schedule, and are the lowest scoring team in the playoffs. 

They will now match-up with their rival, a team they beat twice in the regular season. The lineup has been slowly playing better, after a mid season lull, and they look healthier this week than they have almost all season. There isn't a bad start across their entire lineup, and the match-ups look juicy. They have multiple stars going on Monday, and TPD does not. So Stros will be hoping to keep it close on Sunday, in hopes of leading a magical comeback on Christmas Day. Oh what a game this will be. 

TPD changed their name once before, and that season ended with a title. This year marks the first season as a Peaking giant, and the results could be the same. After a terrible season a year ago, TPD predictably turned things around. They were (9-3) at one point, before losing three straight to enter the playoffs. They are East Division champs once again, and have now made the playoffs an insane 9 times in 12 seasons. 

They have been weathering poor circumstance once again, with injuries to Chase, Andrews, Taylor, and Jefferson. But their dominance has remained, as they have scored the league's second most points. What team scores the 2nd most points when Justin Jefferson is hurt all season? This franchise does. 

Even having a three game losing streak, they have only scored under 120 once in their last six games. They have had by far the toughest road to make the playoffs. In fact, the other three playoff combatants had the three easiest schedules in the league, while TPD had the league's 4th toughest schedule. They are battled hardened, and are trying to win their fourth league title. Like Stros, the lineup looks ready to throw down this week. This match-up looks to be cataclysmic. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 14

 Three teams have clinched a playoff spot, NJ, TPD, Stros. 

Five teams are fighting for the final playoff spot. Dingos, McCoy, UB, Coop, Loco.

Let's breakdown what needs to happen for each team. 

Dingos:

-Win their last two games, and they are in.

-Win one more game and have McCoy lose one more game, and they are in.

-Lose last two games, McCoy lose last two games, and no one behind them catch them in points, they are in.

McCoy:

-Win one more game, have Dingos lose last two games, they are in.

-Win two more games, have Dingos lose one game, they are in.

UB, Coop, Loco:

-Each team has to win out, McCoy and Dingos each have to lose out, and they would have to catch Dingos in total points. Dingos currently have more than 140 point lead over all of them. Loco needs the most help as they are 200 points behind Dingos. A total collapse by the Dingos, with explosions from each team, is perhaps the only scenario for each of them. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 13

 Playoff Scenarios:

Njokus on you (11-1): NJ has clinched a playoff spot. They also tied the league's longest winning streak of 11 straight wins. A win this week gives them the outright record. They will likely be the top overall seed for the playoffs as well. The only thing standing in their way is league history. Time and time again the top seed has fallen short of expectations in the playoffs. Their players simply run out of gas typically. Time will tell for the MFFL's top dog in 2023. 

The Peaking Dynasty (9-3): TPD has won 6 straight games. One more victory would clinch them a playoff spot. They are trying to stay healthy though, as Andrews and Taylor have been hurt in consecutive weeks. The fact that they have won six straight games without Justin Jefferson is remarkable. They did a good job acquiring depth and quality throughout the season.

Imposing Monstrosity (8-4): Stros is very close to getting back to the playoffs. They continue to produce elite seasons in the MFFL. They have only made 8 moves all season, illustrating how good their draft was. Two more wins clinches them a spot. Or a win against McCoy in the final week of the regular season would seal it. They are in good position. No matter what happens over the next two weeks, they will enter the last week, with a chance to secure a spot. 

The Dingos Ate Your Babies (7-5): The Dingos have a great shot at the playoffs. They have the softest schedule to finish the year, playing each of the bottom three teams in the final three weeks. They have won four of five, and continue to put up good point totals. They could play themselves into a higher seed if they win each of their last three games. 

The Real McCoy (6-5-1): McCoy has lost three of four, and haven't scored over 120 points in four straight games. It was a bad time to go on a cold streak, but their playoff hopes are still alive. Unlike the teams above them, they do not control their own destiny. Their next two games are winnable though, setting up a potential play-in game against Stros in week 15. They will be hoping The Dingos lose some games, which would make their path to the playoffs easier. 

Bo, Loco, and Coop are likely out. Even if they win their remaining games, and The Dingos and McCoy lose theirs, their low point totals would likely keep them out of the playoffs. They would have to win and win big, to climb back into the race. Which is possible, however unlikely. 

TDs and LFB have already been eliminated.

Match-Up Build-Up Week 11

 

The Peaking Dynasty (7-3) vs The Dingos Ate Your Babies (6-4)

A major east division clash is on tap for week 11. The Dingos have owned TPD as of late. TPD will aim to even the score. 

TPD exploded last week, scoring 179 points. Even with bye week issues and injuries, they were able to put together an elite performance. They have now scored the most points in the league, and are neck and neck with NJ in trying to prove they are the best in the league. Their depth at every position is critical for their long term success, and it is especially terrifying considering Jefferson could be back this week. They are on a mission this year, but first they have to get the monkey off their back. 

The Dingos are on a winning streak just like TPD, and their performances get better every week. Their schedule has gone back to being incredibly easy, which has helped, but they've scored over 125 in four of six games. They continue to try to find a weekly started at QB. They'll be hoping either Dobbs or Murray can be that guy. They'll be relying on two aging veterans at WR down the stretch, as Cooper's value took a major hit with the Watson injury. They have only three WRs on their entire roster. It is an unconventional strategy, but that's what the Dingos do. They'll be hoping for a huge victory on Sunday. 

Njokus on You (9-1) vs Unstopa-Bo (4-6)

Nine straight wins for NJ. Just a few more and they will have the MFFL record. We are running out of things to say about the specialness of this season. They have been able to rely on their starters all season, as none of them seem to be slowly down. Its been vital, as their bench leaves some to be desired. Waiver wire moves this week may help them down the stretch though. They remain the top dog. What a year. 

UB is on fire. They have scored over 148 points in three straight games. It has been a major mid season turnaround out of nowhere. We have seen moves like this before, but it is always surprising when it happens. Bye weeks will be an issue this week though. Still, Lamb and Ekeler have been playing great as of late. Don't look now, but UB may be a playoff contender. A win this week may be needed though. A tough task considering the opponent. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 10

 

Njokus On You (8-1) vs The Real McCoy (5-3-1)

Njokus on you is re-writing history. They have won eight straight games, with their only loss coming in week 1. It is the 2nd best start to a season ever, and last week they won without CMC, who was on bye. Three more wins in a row would tie them for the longest winning streak in league history. If they win out, they would be the first team ever to go through the regular season with only 1 loss. Words cannot express how magical of a season it has been. Standing in front of them this week, is the franchise that holds the longest league winning streak, adding fuel to this fire. 

McCoy's four game winning streak came to an end last week against TPD. They scored only 103 points, and will be hoping for better results in week 10. Getting a few guys off of bye will help. Nothing is lost. They remain in great position overall, with a strong team, ready to battle for it all. The West Division will take shape in a major way after this clash, with either NJ grabbing a stranglehold on it, or McCoy leveling the playing field. Gear up. 

Imposing Monstrosity (6-3) vs The Dingos Ate Your Babies (5-4)

After a six game winning streak, Stros has lost two straight. They have struggled to score points in four out of their last six games, but have been able to survive due to having the league's easiest schedule. This week they have three huge pieces on bye. In order to regain the momentum they had earlier in the season, they will need Walker to start playing better, and more consistent production out of Olave and Higgins. If those things happen, they will be right back in the thick of it. A win this week would be huge, considering the bye week troubles they have. 

The Dingos have won two straight, as each of their last two opponents have scored below 75 points a piece. Still, they are 3rd in points scored, so their soft schedule as of late hasn't helped them as much as last season. They carry an impressive (5-0) divisional record into week 10, with all of their losses coming against the West Division. They are 5th in the standings right now, just barely out of the projected playoff bracket. The team is good, and will be looking for a huge win this week, against an opponent whose stars are on bye.

The Peaking Dynasty (6-3) vs La Flama Blanca (3-5-1)

TPD is finally getting some good luck. They won last week, only scoring 113 points in the victory. It is the type of win that has eluded them for years. They are getting guys back from bye this week, and JJ may be back in week 11. If JJ and Chase can remain healthy down the stretch, this team will be a very difficult out. The poor play of Bijan has hurt their RB core, but like their star WRs, if he starts to play better, look out. 

LFB has been playing well, but is still struggling to win games consistently. They have the 2nd fewest points scored, and that is including the 170 point game two weeks ago. It is still a good team, likely one that deserves a better record, but they are once again reliant on aging veterans. A win this week is likely critical to keep their playoff hopes alive. Look for them to lay it all on the line. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 9

 

The Peaking Dynasty (5-3) vs The Real McCoy (5-2-1)

For the first time in 38 game weeks, spanning more than two and a half years of MFFL football, TPD does not have the league's toughest schedule. That designation befalls Loco now. If that is a sign of things to come, then TPD is in for a huge second half to the season. The roster looks set for the long haul. They have depth at each position, and are hunkering down for the long and cold winter. Bye weeks are a big concern this week, but starting next week, they could be getting Jefferson back. It's hard to believe the league's 2nd highest point scorer has been operating at a limited capacity. 

McCoy is surging. Four straight wins have them in prime position to secure a playoff spot later this season. It's a very good lineup with room to grow if some key pieces start playing better. They remain incredibly Hill dependent, as he is the main source of explosion. So they will be hoping his injury status holds. Etienne has also been great. If Smith and Pollard can start playing like the guys they thought they were drafting, then they'll sail towards another appearance in the MFFL playoffs. 

This game is huge, as it always is when these two battle. 

The only other matchup featuring two teams with at least three wins is

El Pollo Loco (3-5) vs Njokus on You (7-1)

Loco was doing a good job the previous two weeks of dancing around their difficult schedule, but last week it caught up to them. It's a good team, but one that lacks explosiveness. They currently sit 6th in points scored. RB and TE have plagued them as of late. Still, we are only halfway through the season. There is plenty of time for things to turn around. AJ and Patrick will look to do it.

Oh what a season it has been for NJOY. They won their mega clash last week in convincing fashion. They are now (7-1), and still the top point scorers. They have won seven straight games. They could capture the league's longest winning streak title with just a few more victories. It has been an incredible ride. But they don't have CMC this week. They have also been entirely dependent on CMC, Allen, and Kamara as of late. They will need their WRs, TE, and FLEX to start playing better, once those three monsters slow down towards the mean. 

Bullet Points:

-Stros' good luck seemed to end last week. They are still (6-2), but only 5th in points scored. They'll have to start playing better if they want to remain near the top. They likely will, as the team is plenty good enough to do so. 

-Dingos did it again. They won last week, while scoring only the 6th most points of the week. They will take the win of course, with the hope of finding stability at QB and RB down the stretch. 

-LFB let out a year's worth of frustrations in one week. They scored 170 points. They'll hope to still have some in the tank for this week. 

-UB, Coop, and TDs all need a win this week. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 8

 

Imposing Monstrosity (6-1) vs Njokus on You (6-1)

The biggest game of the season so far kicks off MUBU.

Stros has won six straight games. They've scored over 129 in four out of their last six games. The longest winning streak of their career has set them up for a special season. Led by Hurts, Walker, and Kelce all season, they have been able to side step some up and down performances by the rest of the roster. They are currently 5th in points scored, and their schedule has been by far the easiest. Only one team has scored over 120 points against them all season. A good team with a good schedule is a deadly combination. 

NJ is living out the best season of their career. They are also on a six game winning streak, and are currently #1 in points scored this season. They have scored over 130 in five out of their last six games. Benefitting from the league's 2nd easiest schedule, they have barely broken a sweat in many games this season. It is a veteran driven group, and almost all of them are turning back the clock with renaissance seasons. Breaking down late in the year is a possibility, but right now none of that matters. NJ is finally enjoying a season in the MFFL, and they'll live it up to the fullest. 

Get. Your. Popcorn. Ready. 

El Pollo Loco (3-4) vs The Real McCoy (4-2-1)

Loco has won two straight, with each game coming down to the slimmest of margins. The trade for A.J. Brown may have saved their season. Issues remain at RB and TE, but this team is just happy to be back in the hunt, after a slow start to the season. Look for them to keep it going in week 8. They are looking for their first divisional win of the season. 

McCoy has won three straight after only securing one win in their first four tries. Goedert has exploded since joining their roster, and Hill remains elite. They'll be hoping for better WR play from the rest of the team, as well as Goff to play well while Fields is out. They are right where they need to be at this point in the season, per usual. 

The Peaking Dynasty (4-3) vs Chicken Noodle Coop (2-5)

TPD continues to fight against the league's toughest schedule. Teams are averaging 132 per game against them through the first seven weeks. Hilariously it is six points lower than what teams were averaging against them last season at this time, 138. Such has been life for TPD over the last couple of years. The team is very good, scoring the league's 2nd most points. They get Chase back off bye this week, and Jefferson back off injury in a few more. Even with their early season success, improved health and luck could make the latter part of the season even better. 

Coop has been struggling to patch the injury holes on their roster. Every single week this franchise is losing someone to injury. They have lost three in a row, scoring decent point totals, but not even to secure a victory. They'll be hoping for a big week again TPD, which is customary, but if it doesn't happen they'll be behind the eight ball. This is a huge week for them, and the lineup looks good all considering. 

The Dingos Ate Your Babies (3-4)

The Dingos are getting TPD'd. Teams are scoring crazy points against them during their three game losing streak. It is a stark contrast to their season a year ago. They remain in the hunt even with a frustrating last few weeks. 

TDs, LFB, and UB are all looking for critical wins in week 8. If they do, they will get back in the thick of it, while a loss for any would be pretty detrimental.

 No MUBU this week. The focus has been on the PSU vs OSU game all week. Go Bucks!

Match-Up Build-Up Week 6

 

The Peaking Dynasty (3-2) vs Imposing Monstrosity (4-1)

TPD's victory last week keeps them at the top of the East division. They have scored the 2nd most points in the league, and continue to have the league's toughest schedule. Now they must deal with life after Jefferson. JJ is out for a while, possibly the whole season if the Vikings continue to tank. It is a brutal blow. But TPD is prepared for a worst case scenario such as this. The WRs were once the best in the league, now it is simply a very good deep unit. Luckily for them, their trades have given them the most RB power in the league. More moves will come, but even without JJ, the lineup can still put up points. 

Stros continues to win games they shouldn't. They scored 94 points in a victory a week ago. Not a single opponent they've played has scored more than 118 points against them all season. That type of easy schedule leads to wins. They won last week while starting Higgins, who was inactive. Injuries have also hit them hard this week. They may be without a few key starters. The great early schedule gives them time to patch some of the holes. When healthy, they still boast a strong starting lineup. Expect a bounce back performance this week, as they get Brown back, and get to play TPD, which typically leads to teams putting up points. 

Chicken Noodle Coop (2-3) vs The Real McCoy (2-2-1)

Coop played well last week, but it wasn't enough to secure a win. They remain incredibly active on free agency and in trading. As stated last week, they are managing their asses off. It's a strong lineup, but one without a true star. Expect their starting lineup to be the most varying week to week, as they play the match-ups, seeking edges where they can find them. Their efforts are paying off, and they'll contend all season. 

McCoy bounced back last week. They had huge performances from Etienne, Hill, and Fields. It was a welcomed sight after weeks of futility. Fields is playing great and hopes ares growing within the fan base. Flaws remain, as many others in their starting lineup last week under performed. But they'll find a way through it. One way or another, McCoy will find a way to compete to the very end. Last week was huge for the psyche of this franchise.

La Flama Blanca (2-2-1) vs Njokus On You (4-1)

Oh what a difference Kupp makes. LFB won last week after getting one of their stars back. With Barkley soon to be back as well, things are suddenly looking up for a franchise that was in free fall. The veteran laden lineup showed up last week, but how much is left in the tank throughout the season remains to be seen. Still, what they did last week was impressive. They are officially back on the playoff radar. 

NJ is (4-1) and the highest scoring team in the league. It has been a special season for this franchise. Kamara has given this squad a real boost. CMC is simply unstoppable at the moment, and Allen and Moore have really picked up their play. Injuries could hurt them, as their bench is average, but as of now, they are the top dogs. 

El Pollo Loco (1-4) vs The Dingos Ate Your Babies (3-2)

Loco's bounce back performance didn't arrive last week as anticipated. They are now (1-4) and in danger of falling behind. They have to win this first rivalry match-up. Trading for Brown is a great initial start. they also have Mostert stepping back into the lead role due to Achane's injury. They have depth now, and can play the match-ups week to week. They may climb out of this hole yet, but it has to start this week. 

Dingos ran into a buzzsaw last week, but they performed well even in defeat. They've scored at least 135 points in four straight games. QB remains a major concern moving forward, but the rest of the lineup looks strong. Expect them to continue to perform. They will rely on Chase, Allen, and Hockenson putting up huge points week to week, which is not a bad strategy. 

Rader Flashing TDs (2-3) vs Unstopa-Bo (1-4)

TDs has scored over 110 points just once this season, and now Achane is hurt. Still, they have enough talent to weather this storm. The WRs are strong, and QB isn't an issue. If their RBs can hold up, they'll be ok. The winds have to change soon, especially in a winnable game. 

After securing their first win a week ago, UB followed it up with a 60 point effort in week 5. The team just isn't performing. But we'll continue to emphasize that this team has talent. Teams have dug out of huge holes before, and they could be another one to do it this season. As is the case with other teams currently, the winning has to start now. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 5

 

The Peaking Dynasty (2-2) vs Rader Flashing TDs (2-2)

TPD's bad luck will seemingly never change. They scored the 2nd most points in the league last week, and lost. It is an all too familiar scenario for the team currently leading the league in points. Sure the team played great, but no franchise can keep their sanity forever with poor circumstance such as this. Even worse, their opponent last week conceded less than halfway through the 1:00pm games. How can a team that ends up scoring 189 points concede less than halfway through their match-up? It was a low blow, and salt to the wound of TPD. Trying to lift their spirits, they once again made a flurry of trades. The amount of star WRs that have visited their roster this season is truly astounding. They let go of Diggs, but acquired Jacobs and Waddle. Their RBs are now truly terrifying, and they still have elite WR play to go along with it. Jonathan Taylor could be a league winner for them. None of that will matter if their luck doesn't change though. 

TDs is on a mission this year. They have been more active then any time before. The roster is overhauled since the draft, with star players riddled throughout. Their RB core took a major hit losing Jacobs, but Diggs should be able to soften the blow. They played ok last week, but not nearly well enough to win. They hope playing TPD will bring them all the luck they need. Most teams have their best week of the season when match-up with The Dynasty. 

The Dingos Ate Your Babies (3-1) vs The Real McCoy (1-2-1)

The Dingos are off to a blazing start. They are (3-0) in the division, and have the 3rd most points in the league. Yes they have the 2nd easiest schedule, a good fortune that has followed them from last season, but this year they don't need their easy schedule as much. The boys are showing out. This week may be tough, as Allen and Cooper are on bye, but if their young RB core comes to play, they'll be in great position. Their gamble on Richardson is paying off as well. It is hard to tell if their young players will continue this pace, but if they do, look out. 

McCoy is struggling at the moment. They lost last week to UB, who had yet to win a game before last week. They are just struggling to score points ever since their big week one. As stated before. a lot of their elite production is based on Hill smashing. The quality of players is still there though. They look like a tough out week in and week out. A win here is crucial.  

Chicken Noodle Coop (2-2) vs La Flama Blanca (1-2-1)

Coop secured a crucial victory a week ago. They now sit 5th in points, and 5th in the standings. This franchise is managing the hell out of their team, patching together lineups each week with glue and duct tape. What else are they supposed to do after suffering so many devastating injuries. Kupp coming back could limit the star of their team, Nacua. If that happens, mark it down as yet another unfortunate circumstance due to poor injury luck. Though this time in the form of someone getting healthy. Week in and week out CNC impresses. 

LFB is in a complete collapse. They have yet to score over 106 in a game, and have only scored over 100 one time this season. We'll see if the return of Kupp can spark something. 

Njokus On You (3-1) vs El Pollo Loco (1-3)

NJ has the second most points in the league, but much of that can be attributed to their 189 point outburst against TPD last week. The league needs to shame this franchise. They basically conceded to TPD not even halfway through their match-up. Less than 3 minutes later, they were in the lead. Seriously?? Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. 

Loco once again had a poor performance following a blow up the week before. The good news is this week they are due to explode. Outside of Mahomes, pretty much every player on their roster has been hot and cold this year. But again, expect a bounce back performance this week. 

Imposing Monstrosity (3-1) vs Unstopa-Bo (1-3)

Stros won last week while scoring the 3rd fewest points of the week. Can TPD borrow some of that luck please? They have now had two smash weeks and two down weeks. We would guess that most weeks will be of the smash variety, though their depth has not held up since the start of the season. Bye weeks could limit their upside. Either way, Stros is in a pole position so far this season, and the team is strong throughout.

UB won last week, and it was critical. They didn't light the world on fire, but it was just enough to secure a win. The lineup needs to get Ekeler back in week 6. But this week could be a struggle again. They don't have the firepower of other teams in the league, but a win here would keep them alive. 

Match-Up Build-Up Week 4

 

The Peaking Dynasty (2-1) vs Njokus On You (2-1)

TPD secured a huge comeback win Monday Night in week 3. They now sit at the top of the MFFL and have scored the most points in the league. They survived Mostert scoring 48 points against them. Last season TPD would have lost a game like that, so they are hoping this is a sign that things will be different in 2023. The lineup is stacked, and they're ready to battle each week. Look for them to continue to make aggressive moves, but the starting lineup should largely remain intact for the time being. They will be hoping for better play from Waller and Bijan.

NJOY is off to a hot start. They've scored over 130 in back to back weeks. They've benefited from having the league's second easiest schedule, but looking at their lineup, it easy to see why they are booming. Allen, Evans, and CMC have all been playing well. They also get Kamara back this week. If Andrews can start playing better, then the skies the limit for this lineup. They may struggle during bye weeks, as they have a light bench. But right now they are hot. Look for them to keep it rolling in week 4. 

El Pollo Loco (1-2) vs Imposing Monstrosity (2-1)

Loco is (1-2), but they deserve better. They have been TPDd in the early going, scoring high point totals but coming away with losses. But the game they won was when they scored 102, so it hasn't been all bad luck. They continue to alternate good games with bad ones, per usual. But the lineup is improving with each week, especially at RB. TE remains a concern, but they still look like contenders this season. This is a big test on Sunday and a huge Western division clash.

Stros continues to perform after a poor week one. They scored the most points last week, and have quickly established themselves as a team to beat this year. There just isn't a point of weakness, or a position to attack when playing them, which was a point of emphasize for them during their draft prep. Look for them to continue to perform, led by Hurts, Kelce, and St. Brown.

La Flama Blanca (1-1-1) vs The Dingos Ate Your Babies (2-1)

LFB predictably struggled last week, with many players dealing with injuries. Its a lineup right now that lacks firepower. They need Burrow to start playing better. Barkley and Kupp returning to health is critical at this point. It is still early, but a loss this week could put them behind the eight ball. They will have to tread water for what looks like another week. 

The Dingos are performing well. They are second in both the standings and points scored. They will be happy with Chase's first performance for their franchise. It is a potent lineup from top to bottom, especially if their young RBs continue to perform. Even after a 3rd place finish last season, their team is better this year. They will be a tough out all the way through. 

Chicken Noodle Coop (1-2) vs Rader Flashing TDs (2-1)

CNC once again had a player go down with a season ending injury. Their injury luck to start this season has been terrible. They are just hoping to survive in the early going until they can figure out their lineup construction the rest of the season. A win this week would be huge for them, as (2-2) will feel a lot different than (1-3). 

TDs finally scored points last week. We mentioned earlier how their lineup was starting to look better after a few trades, and last week was their coming out party. This may be their best team in years. Getting to (3-1) would be a big moment for this franchise. It would solidify their position as a contender this year. 

The Real McCoy (1-1-1) vs Unstopa-Bo (0-3)

McCoy has struggled each of the last two weeks. QB, TE, and FLEX have been problem positions in the early going and they've been reliant on huge games from Hill. They need to stack some wins early, as bye weeks may impact them more than others. Their bench has yet to show a lot of depth. Do not push the panic bottom. This team is more than capable of going on a run. This is a must win for them though, against a lesser opponent at the moment. 

UB getting Ekeler back is crucial at this point. An (0-3) hole is tough to climb out of. It's not over yet, the team still has players that can play better, but it has to happen this week.
